Welcome! George Washington Carver High School for The Sciences (GWCHSS) is dedicated to increasing the knowledge, skills and opportunities for every student.

And we know that when we help our students to develop self-direction and resilience, avoid risky behaviors and find help to overcome challenges, academic performance improves. This website provides resources for GWCHSS parents, advisory leaders, teachers and student leaders to join in and support that mission. Click on the boxes above for news updates on activities at our school, for a school directory or course catalog, to find advisory resources, and to learn more about our Dream Leaders program and participation in the Expanded Success Initiative.

In partnership with the Connect With Kids Education Network, you will also find compelling evidence-based videos, with activities, discussion questions for both our school Advisory and Dream Leader programs, and Family Viewing Guides for conversations at home. To access password-protected videos, Sign Up with Connect for Kids to create your own user name and password. Then complete the requested information form, including our organization code.   • September 13, 2021 at 8:10 AM (First Day of School) Welcome Back!! MASK COVERING IS MANDATORY

    Greetings Carver Families,

    Monday, September 13, 2021 is the first day for all Department of Education Students to return to full day of School! George Washington Carver High School for the Sciences Welcome All Students Back! Starting at 8:10 am to 2:30 pm

    Parents and Guardians we are a scanning school, please ensure that your child arrive by 7:45 am Monday through Friday on time

    Students please bring your IPads, Laptops with you to school everyday as well as notes books, binders and pens. Please have your devices fully charged at home

    Please have your child complete the Daily Health Screening: All DOE employees, students, families  and visitors seeking to enter DOE Building must complete a health screening Before entering DOE Facilities. This health screening must be completed on each day of arrival and results will reset at midnight of each day. Upon entering  facility you will be asked to provide the results of your screening either by showing your phone or a printout of the results.

  • Mandatory COVID-19 Testing Consent Form

    Greetings Carver Families,
     
    We hope that all is well with you and your family. We thank the parents and guardians who had completed their COVID-19 Testing Consent Forms and asking for those who did not to please complete the required form.  
     
    Please send the completed form to Ms. Williams the Pupil Account Secretary at JWilliams7@schools.nyc.gov

    Mandatory in-school testing will happen weekly for a random selection of staff and students in all reopened school buildings. In order for your child to return to in-person learning, you must submit the consent form for in-school COVID-19 testing before school opens on March 22, 2021
